Due to the lower internal spring pressure in a recirc, they open earlier and close later than a BOV and therefore will be open longer. Even if a recirc flows less than a BOV in a static max lift flow test, you have to consider open time for a valid volumetric flow comparison since they operate in a dynamic world.
